About HRI Rwanda
Health and Rights Rwanda (HRI) is a grassroots civil society organisation founded in Rwanda with a bold mission: to ensure every adult β regardless of sexual orientation, gender identity, or background β lives free from stigma, discrimination, and human rights violations.
We were born from the community, shaped by lived experience, and driven by an unwavering belief that dignity and equality are not privileges β they are rights.
π― Our Mission
To stand with every community member facing human rights violations or mistreatment, with a focus on sexual orientation and stigma reduction.
π Our Vision
A Rwanda where every adult lives with dignity, equality, and freedom β recognised and protected.

What We Do
From legal literacy to safe spaces, HRI offers holistic support for those whose rights have been denied or undermined.

Our programmes deliver measurable outcomes. Here's what the data shows about the people we support across Rwanda.
"HRI gave me back my voice. After facing discrimination because of my sexual orientation, I didn't know where to turn. Their team listened without judgment and helped me understand my rights. I finally felt seen."
"I was afraid to speak up about what happened to me. HRI's support services changed that. They walked with me through the whole process β from counselling to connecting me with legal help. I am no longer alone."
